Guests attending the grand opening will enjoy light hors d’oeuvres and beverages as well as hear a brief testament from one of the clients currently in the program. This reception will gather local government officials, supporters and donors to celebrate the agency that is making great strides in impacting family homelessness in Central Florida.   Partnering with Orange County, private donors and other community stakeholders, Family Promise has increased its capacity to help local homeless families this year.

As the capacity of Family Promise of Greater Orlando has increased, so has the need for additional space. “We are thrilled that Community of Christ Church offered their Activity Center for our agency,” commented executive director, Tia Aery. We have doubled the size of our staff in the past year and we were looking for a community partner and Community Christ stepped up to the plate.”

Not only does the increase in space provide more office space for the agency, but it also gives the homeless families whom they serve more room as well. “The Day Center is the hub of all the agency’s activities. Volunteers gather for training and meetings.  Families meet with their case managers to set goals and receive guidance.  Families have the use of showers, phones, and computers,” said Chris Andrews, the president of the board of directors. “This increased space gives the children in our program a playroom as well as a leisure room for our parents to watch television and just unwind.”
